Girl Stone (Devojacki Kamen) in Kuchkovo

Legend 1: Fairies and Jealousy

According to the first legend, girls often gathered around the rock and danced. One of the girls was so beautiful that she overcame the beauty of the fairies, who, out of jealousy, caused a strong wind. The wind pushed the girl into the rock, injuring her, and so the rock was named „Girl Stone“.

Legend 2: Miracle Power

The second legend tells about young mothers who did not have milk. They scraped dust from the rock, mixed it with water and drank it, believing that the rock had miraculous powers that helped them get milk to breastfeed their babies.

Legend 3: Healing Power

According to the third legend, for the Mladenci holiday, people came to the rock and left clothes from sick people or women who could not have children. It was believed that if snakes pass through their clothes in the spring, the patient will recover and the woman will be able to get pregnant.

Medicinal Spring „Miy Ochi“ (Wash Your Eyes)

Below the rock is a spring with healing water, called „Miy Ochi“. Many people who had eye problems visited this location and claimed that the water from the spring helped them.

How to Get to Girl Stone

Girl Stone (Devojacki Kamen) can be reached in two ways:

1. After the village of Kuchkovo and Kuchkovo monastery „St. George“, you continue on the road and come to a sharp curve to the left. The signposts will show you to continue straight on the unpaved road to the cottages. Here you can drive by car for about 1 km and then park. The rock is only 100-200 meters from this point.
2. Park in the parking lot in front of the cross and continue on foot along the path that leads through the pine forest. Follow the road signs that will lead you to Devojacki Kamen. The path is easy and you will reach the rock in 10-15 minutes walk.
